EPFULL (European Patents Full text database) covers the full text of European patent applications and granted European patents as well as bibliographic records for PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) applications transferred to the EPO from 1978 onwards. Database records contain bibliographic data, abstracts, full text of detailed description and claims as well as legal status information and citations for published unexamined applications (A-documents) and examined granted patents (B-documents). All documents featuring the same application number are grouped together in one single document. Bibliographic data and legal status information correspond to the European Patent Bulletin and are always in a current state.
The complete specification is given in one of EPO’s official languages English, German or French, titles are available in all three languages. Claims can be accessed for A-documents in English, German or French, for B-documents in all three languages. Abstracts in the original publication language can be searched for A-documents. English abstracts are added to German and French documents within several weeks after their publication. Patent, application, priority and related patent information, abstracts, detailed descriptions, and claims may all be searched.
For each document the complete legal status history is maintained. All legal status events are fully searchable, including former names, addresses, and titles if they were reassigned. Patent and non-patent literature citations, given by the applicant within the description of a patent document as well as by the examiner in the search report, are made available for search and display. Simultaneous left and right truncation is available in the basic index. An online thesaurus is available in the /IPC field.
