The Derwent Journal of Synthetic Methods File (DJMDS: subscriber file; DJSMONLINE: non-subscriber file) is a structure searchable chemical reactions database designed on the principles set out originally by Theilheimer, which provides key references on novel synthetic methods from the worldwide patent and scientific literature. The strict selection criteria ensure that only new or the most synthetically useful modifications of known methods are abstracted. In addition, all references are cross-referenced to relevant prior art and other similar reactions. The database and its associated Journal of Synthetic Methods, are a continuation and extension of Theilheimer’s Synthetic Methods of Organic Chemistry. Sources include over 300 journals as well as patent publications from the 40 most important industrialized countries worldwide. Single-step reactions are searched in DJSMDS/DJSM ONLINE the same way as in CASREACT, CHEMINFORMRX, and CHEMREACT, the other chemical reactions databases on STN. Reaction information, DJSM Registry Numbers, bibliographic information, classification codes, keywords, and abstracts are searchable. Page images are available.
