Austin | The Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) is a new patent classification system jointly developed and maintained by the European Patent Office (EPO) and the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This bilateral classification system entered into force on January 1, 2013 and replaced the European patent classifications (ECLA and ICO) and will eventually replace the US Patent classification system. Now the database has the same content as Reaxys. Enhancements include additional fields and formats for displaying patent content or data for meeting the REACH requirements. Patent citation information lets you do just that. The Derwent Patent Citation Index (DPCI) on STN contains family based citation information which allows you to identify all the forward and backwards citations related to a particular Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) family. What’s more the file uses the same accession numbers as DWPI on STN making it easy to transfer data between the two databases.
