PCTFULL (WIPO/PCT Patents Full Text) covers the full text of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) published applications issued under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) since 1978. At present, 124 member states participate in the PCT system. A single PCT application can be designated as valid in any or all of the member states, so it is essentially equivalent to having filed with each designated national and regional patent office.
Text for PCT Applications has been created by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. Therefore, characters may be misinterpreted, or portions of the text may be incomplete. A small percentage of records are absent because they failed to scan.
Records in the database contain the text of the complete document, including the specification, claims, titles and abstracts in French and English, patent assignees, inventors, and patent and priority application data. The complete text is available only for documents in English, French, German and Spanish. Images, i.e., patent drawings, are available for a given patent. These images are TIFF images. Any program that handles TIFF images compressed in Group 4 fax format, e.g., STN Express, may be used to capture images from DISPLAY. Images can be displayed directly on the screen when accessing the file via STN on the Web.
