Obtaining Updated Software

Free STN AnaVist, Version 2.0, software is available via download or CD-ROM.

STN Express, Version 8.2 or higher, is needed to re-visualize document sets in STN AnaVist, Version 2.0, or to create new document sets.

Free STN Express, Version 8.3, software is available via download or CD-ROM.

Re-visualizing Version 1 Document Sets in Version 2.0

Version 1 document sets that were created with saved document set files (.rkx) from STN Express, Version 8.0 or higher, can be revisualized in STN AnaVist, Version 2.0.

Step 1: Locate saved .rkx files.

For STN Express, Versions 8.0 to 8.2, the default location for saved .rkx files is:

Step 2: Convert .rkx files to .xta file format.

  1. In STN Express, Versions 8.2 and higher, select File > Convert STN AnaVist .rkx file.
  2. Locate your .rkx file to convert (see Step 1), and click Open.
  3. When the Select STN AnaVist File window appears, click Save. A message will indicate when the .xta file has been saved.

Step 3: Re-visualize .xta files in Version 2.0.

  1. In STN AnaVist, Version 2.0, click Import.
  2. Locate the .xta file from Step 2, and click Open.
  3. Click Visualize.

Note: Re-visualization of Version 1 document sets is not possible for projects:


Deleting Projects and Uninstalling Version 1 Software

To avoid monthly storage fees, delete your Version 1 projects:

  1. In STN AnaVist, Version 1, select the project from your Project List.
  2. Select Edit > Delete [project name].

If you have shared any Version 1 projects with holders of STN Login IDs for Shared Projects, you should ask those ID holders to delete

Version 1 projects as well.

After you have deleted all Version 1 projects, we recommend that you uninstall STN AnaVist, Version 1, software via the Windows Control

Panel (Add or Remove Programs) or by contacting your system administrator.

Finally, we recommend that you delete all saved .rkx and .avx files because these file formats do not work with STN AnaVist, Version 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only the option to Save for STN AnaVist 2.0+ will work; if the first option is selected, an error message will display. The wizard willbe updated in a future STN Express software release.
