A Sticky Topic - Polymer Searching on STNext

Polymer searching is a uniquely challenging prospect, given all of the various ways polymers can be described in patents and the frequent need to also search for relevant properties and applications. Value-add indexing by CAS and Clarivate facilitates this task reducing the time needed to identify highly relevant references. Both database producers offer different approaches for polymer searching though, each having unique advantages but also certain limitations. Consequently, depending on the scope of the search both approaches should be used to complement each other in terms of retrieving the most comprehensive set of results. Therefore, in this e-seminar we start with exploring how polymers are generally indexed in the Derwent and CAS databases. Given these insights on polymer indexing we illustrate how to create polymer search strategies on STNext using different search examples.
