MARPAT User Guide

The term, MARPAT, is derived from MARkush or generic structures from PATents. MARPAT is the CAS database of Markush structures found in the world’s patent literature. The database was designed as an extension of the substance searching provided in the CAS REGISTRY and CAplus databases to perform comprehensive patent substance searching.

This user guide is intended to serve as a learning aid and a reference tool to conduct Markush structure searches.
